The cost to see you provider would be remain the same as if you coming into office. If you’re using insurance then it would be subjected to your copay, co-insurance, or deducible for a specialist. For self-pay patients, the cost would be based on the type of provider you’re seeing.

The following steps should be done by you and your provider:

  1. Use headphones.
  2. Reduce the volume of speakers.
  3. Move the microphone away from the speakers.
  1. Restart your computer: restart your computer before your first call.
  2. Wifi: be close to your wifi router, make sure no other parties on the network are using up the bandwidth, and you don’t have a lot of browser windows open.
  3. CPU/GPU usage: ensure no high intensity programs are running on the computer.

Welcome to the One Behavioral Psychological Assessment Department FAQ. Here, you will find everything you need to know to prepare for your upcoming assessment, understand our process, and learn about the services we offer. Our goal is to provide you with a clear and supportive experience from start to finish.

General Information

We specialize in cognitive and psychological evaluations across the lifespan (ages 6 and older). Our services include assessments for:

  • Neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder).
  • Neurodegenerative disorders (e.g., Mild Cognitive Impairment, Neurocognitive Disorders).
  • Diagnostic clarification for mood, anxiety, trauma-related, and personality disorders.
  • Brief Evaluations are primarily used to diagnose ADHD. They include approximately 1 hour of testing.
  • Comprehensive Evaluations address more complex diagnostic concerns. They include a 1-hour clinical interview and approximately 4 hours of cognitive and/or psychological testing, usually scheduled on a separate date.

Some insurance plans require a referral from a physician or mental health provider. Please check with your insurance company or contact our office for guidance.

To keep your evaluation process moving forward, we ask that you complete and submit your intake form within 7 days of receiving it. During this time, our scheduling team will follow up to offer support and reminders. If we haven’t received your form after 7 days, we’ll make one final attempt to contact you. If you’re still interested, you’ll have 48 hours to complete the form. If it is not submitted within that timeframe, your referral will be closed, and your provider will need to submit a new referral if you’d like to proceed in the future.

Preparing for Your Appointment

Yes. We recommend avoiding caffeine on the day of your assessment, if possible, as it may affect test results.

If you are prescribed stimulant medications (such as those for ADHD), please do not take them on the day of your cognitive assessment unless otherwise instructed. All other prescribed medications, including non-stimulant psychotropics, should be taken as usual unless otherwise instructed by your medical provider.

  • Amphetamine-based stimulants:
    • Adderall (amphetamine/dextroamphetamine).
    • Adderall XR (extended-release amphetamine/dextroamphetamine).
    • Evekeo (amphetamine sulfate).
    • Evekeo ODT (orally disintegrating amphetamine sulfate).
    • Mydayis (mixed amphetamine salts, extended-release).
    • Dexedrine (dextroamphetamine sulfate).
    • ProCentra (liquid dextroamphetamine).

  • Methylphenidate-based stimulants:
    • Ritalin (methylphenidate).

In addition to avoiding stimulant medications and caffeine, we recommend avoiding alcohol, recreational drugs, or sleep deprivation before your assessment, as these factors can significantly impact test performance.

  • Get a full night’s sleep before your appointment.
  • Eat a healthy meal beforehand.
  • Bring reading glasses, hearing aids, or any assistive devices you use.
  • Bring a list of your current medications.
  • Complete any required paperwork before your appointment if instructed.

If you are feeling unwell, please contact our office as soon as possible to reschedule. We want to ensure the most accurate testing results and maintain a healthy environment for all patients and staff.

During and After the Assessment

  • Clinical Interview: A 1-hour session to gather history and current concerns.
  • Testing Session:
    • Brief Evaluations: Approximately 1 hour.
    • Comprehensive Evaluations: Approximately 4 additional hours, scheduled separately.
  • Feedback Session: After the evaluation is complete, you will participate in a 1-hour feedback session with either the neuropsychologist or your referring provider. Findings, diagnoses, and treatment recommendations will be discussed. The psychologist does not prescribe psychotropic medication.
  • Clinical interview: approximately 1 hour.
  • Brief evaluation testing: approximately 1 hour.
  • Comprehensive evaluation testing: approximately 4 hours.
  • Feedback session: approximately 1 hour.
Many assessments can be conducted virtually. However, some sessions may require in-person testing depending on clinical needs. Our team will advise you based on the best approach for your case.
In most cases, yes! We offer virtual feedback appointments, but it depends on whether your insurance plan allows it. Feel free to ask our team, and we’ll be happy to check for you.
Reports are typically available within 2–3 weeks following the completion of all testing and required paperwork. The feedback session will review your results in detail.
Diagnostic impressions will be discussed during your feedback session. A full written report, including results, diagnoses (if applicable), and treatment recommendations, will also be provided to you.

Your evaluation results are confidential. They will only be shared with you and your referring provider (if applicable) unless you provide written consent to share them with other individuals or organizations.

Patients are typically asked to attend testing appointments alone to minimize distractions. Minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. For adults who may require assistance, accommodations can be discussed prior to the appointment.
No, children do not need to be present for the feedback appointment. These meetings are typically held with parents or guardians to discuss test results and recommendations in detail.
Yes. If clinically appropriate, testing can be split into two shorter sessions, especially for children, older adults, or individuals with medical conditions that may impact stamina.
Yes. We are committed to providing appropriate accommodations to ensure equitable testing. Extended time, additional breaks, quiet environments, and other modifications can be arranged as needed. Please notify our staff prior to your appointment so we can prepare accordingly.
Coverage for psychological testing varies depending on your insurance plan and the reason for evaluation. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly or consulting with our billing department to verify coverage before your appointment.
Yes. You may request a copy of your completed evaluation report after your feedback session is held and the report is finalized.

The cost of testing is subject to variation depending on insurance coverage and other contributing factors. However, payment plans are available to accommodate any remaining balance.

 

Comprehensive Testing Self-Pay Rates:

  • Clinical Interview: $125.00.
  • Assessment 1: $900.
  • Comprehensive Report: $300.00.

Brief Testing Self-Pay:

  • Assessment: $200.00.
  • Feedback: $125.00.

Tests Administered

Brief evaluations, primarily for ADHD diagnosis, typically include:
  • QB Test (objective computerized assessment of attention, impulsivity, and hyperactivity).
  • Adult ADHD Self-Report Survey (ASRS).
  • Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAI).
  • Beck Depression Inventory (BDI).
We provide comprehensive, gold standard cognitive assessments tailored to meet the requirements for accommodations across academic, professional, and legal settings within the state of Texas. Our evaluations are conducted by qualified professionals using evidence-based tools recognized by schools, workplaces, and testing organizations, including those administering the Texas Bar Exam. These assessments are designed to identify and support individuals with cognitive, learning, or psychological needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate accommodations to perform at their best. The selection of specific measures is based on the presenting concerns and the purpose of the evaluation.

Step 1

Clinical Interview

the initial appointment will consist of a clinical interview, serving as a foundational process wherein the clinician collects pertinent information to ascertain the client's needs, concerns, and background. This step is essential for stablishing rapport and laying the groundwork for effective psychological intervention.

Step 2

Testing & Assessment

The next phase involves psychological testing and assessment, a structured approach to evaluating mental health, cognitive abilities, personality, emotional functioning and behaviour. These evaluations yield objective data to support diagnosis understanding, and skill assessment.

Step 3

Upon completion of our team's evaluationof the assessment results, a comprehensive report will be prepared. Subsequently, a feedback appointment will be scheduled to review the findings and discuss the treatment recommendations for fure planing.
