My name is Jennie Johnson and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#85171) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (#15566) with a Bachelors in Psychology and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from the University of Houston – Victoria. I began my counseling journey as a LCDC in 2018 working with substance abuse disorders that affected individuals and families and conducted individual, family, and group therapy sessions. My experience includes working with adolescents and adults suffering from mental health and substance use disorders both in residential and outpatient settings.
Working closely with clients to help them achieve their goals is a passion for me. I challenge clients to overcome personal barriers and build on their strengths to create empowerment and confidence. Individualized to each person’s needs, I use evidence-based modalities to create a safe and encouraging environment, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Solution-Focused Therapy. I love working with individuals, couples, and families to reach their goals and become the change they wish to see. My specialty areas are working with those who struggle with substance use, trauma, life stressors, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, self-esteem, and anger management.
I believe everyone deserves to be heard and listened to with compassion, empathy, and understanding. It is truly an exciting experience when a client makes progress, achieves a goal, overcomes a fear, and amplifies self-esteem. I cannot wait to take that journey with you and be a part of your growth.
